Sunday, 05 Sept - Clermont Ferrand

Fred walked down the street and came back with croissants for breakfast. We had them with jam, cheese, ham, boiled egg, juice and coffee. Then we went with friends to an english language church service and picnic following. The service and picnic were held on the lawn of a B and B in a village on a hill near Clermont. It was a beautiful spot and we met lots of nice people. Many of them are Michelin employees from the U.S. and other countries. They often do 3 year (or more) "tour" at the Michelin world headquarters here in Clermont.

Many of the families have small children and are really looking for a 'home away from home" in other words a more American like experience than we need, but it is pleasant to be able to converse easily in English rather than French.

We got home around 2 pm, opened all the windows, and spent the afternoon re-arranging, filing, etc, to make our apartment more efficient for us. It was a beautiful day and a nice day to spend some time at home.

Tonight we will go to our favorite restaurant here. It is actually in a neighboring town, Royat, and quite a long walk from here, but well worth the effort. It is a creperie, but we usually get something else for the main meal and finish with a dessert crepe - ice cream, chocolate, whipped cream, crepe - fantastic.

We started out walking, then took the bus up the second hill.  The food was wonderful as usual and we ate too much.  I had chicken fricassee and Fred had truffade - a potato, cheese, and garlic dish served with country cured ham slices.

It was late when we finished so we took the bus home and got ready for Monday - we will be at school before 9 am.
