Well, my U.S. friends are on Labor Day holiday today, but for us, it is a regular working day. I had my first 3 hour French language class this morning and Fred attended planning meetings. My class went well, it is really a beginner class, but I know it will be a big help. The class is conducted only in French, so I get 3 hours of only French - my ear should be better soon.
In the afternoon, I went out to look for some household and school items. There are a few large supermarkets in Clermont that also carry electronics and other household items, but they are mostly near the suburbs. On the way, I did find a Tabac that sells "carnets" of 10 tram/bus tickets and bought a carnet. It is possible to purchase tickets from machines at each tram stop or from the bus driver, but I prefer to be able to board without waiting to purchase a ticket on site. I rode the tram around the hill in center of town, as I knew I would need to go to several stores and that I would be tired when I returned home.
For my needs, I went to a department store for placemats, a book/stationary store for notebooks, stapler, file folders, etc, then to a "Drogerie" for clothes hangers, fly swatter, and a crumb brush for the table. Any way, it is interesting to try to determine what kind of shop will have the items we need.
When I got near the house, I went to get cheese and found the "jardinier" or vegetable and cheese seller was closed - probably because they are open on Saturday. I will try again tomorrow.
